Mercer Island - "Excerpts from the Nutcracker" is one of the most joyful performances of
the holiday season. Young and old alike will be captivated by this uplifting production which is performed by students of the Children's Dance Conservatory and Island Youth Ballet.
All dancers have been trained in the classical ballet curriculum of the Royal Academy of
Dance. Now in its 7th season at Youth Theatre Northwest, 'Excerpts from the
Nutcracker' has become a Mercer Island tradition serving a diverse audience of not only
parents, but senior citizens from local retirement facilities as well as families from the greater Eastside and Seattle.
The production evolves from year to year with dancers of greater skill and work that
showcases their talent and dedication to this effort and commitment. IYB dancers train and rehearse a minimum of 4 days per week enduring long hours of rehearsal for their love of
classical dance and performing. The dancers in the school 'live' for this annual production and
"nutcracker' never seems to go to sleep. It is always held as a standard for accomplishment and reward as well as anticipation.
Performances are scheduled for: December 12-13 at 2 p.m. December 18 at 7 p.m. December 19 at 2 p.m.
December 20 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 and the performance is 2 hours, including intermission.

currently in his third season with LINES. He will take time out of his touring season to reprise his role of Cavalier before rejoining his company in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

Tacoma - Tacoma City Ballet presents their 2009 performance of The Nutcracker. This
production is unique in that it is wholly based on the original production of The Nutcracker which was first performed in Russia in1892. Extensive research performed by Tacoma City
Ballet Artistic Director, Erin Ceragioli, unearthed details of the original sets, costumes and choreography which had been hidden for safekeeping during the Communist Revolution and
consequent suppression of the arts. These costumes and sets have been painstakingly recreated for this production adding authenticity to the artistry that characterizes The Nutcracker.
With music provided by The Northwest Sinfonietta under the direction of Christophe
