This year's Nutcracker is a grand scale production with a cast of almost 90
performers. With all new choreography by recently appointed Artistic Director Amy Orr, the beloved holiday classic will include new backdrops, new and refurbished
costumes and props and some interesting surprises. The ballet, based on the 1816 book by E.T.A Hoffman will showcase Tchaikovsky's famous score, with familiar
favorites like Waltz of the Flowers and the Russian Dance. A 'sneak peek' at some of the surprises include the Seven Headed Mouse King, a Marzipan Shepherdess -
Little Bo Peep and her Sheep, and the return of classic dances - the Candy Canes and the Christmas Tree Angels which open Act II, The Land of the Sweets.
In celebration of Lafayette Society of Performing Arts', (LSPA) 30th
Anniversary, all former dancers of Lafayette Ballet Company (a.k.a. LaGrange Ballet Company, LaGrange Ballet Theater, etc.) are invited to a Nutcracker reunion. We'll
recognize alumni dancers at our Sat, Dec. 4, 7pm performance of "The Nutcracker."
