Fullerton - Anaheim Ballet, led by founding directors Lawrence and Sarma Rosenberg, presents The Nutcracker: A Journey To Candyland as a tenth year tribute to the company's city residency on December 8 and 9 at the OC Pavilion in Santa Ana, December 15 at Plummer Auditorium in Fullerton, and December 20-23 at the Celebrity Theatre in Laughlin, Nevada. AB-Nutcracker The troupe relocated to Anaheim upon city invitation in August 1997, and The Nutcracker has grown along with its first-act magical tree ever since.
"Nutcracker again?" Absolutely.  Apparently kindness, courage and Christmas are more popular than ever. In fact, we just can't get enough of them. Perhaps that's why Anaheim Ballet's version of the perennial classic is so welcomed by audiences everywhere. And, like the city's sesquicentennial anniversary slogan, "Always Fresh, Never Old," this production evolves each year with new dancers, choreography and costuming.
"The spirit of the production remains the same," said choreographer and artistic director Sarma Lapenieks Rosenberg, "but I really adding choreography to showcase talented artists and give an extra gift of inspiration for returning audiences." And the audiences do return. In Laughlin, Nevada, loyal followers of the Anaheim Ballet make it a point of pride each year to follow changes in the production and promotions within the company.
Anaheim Ballet is currently enjoying unprecedented success with its globally popular weekly dance podcast series, "Anaheim Ballet, More Than Dance…" viewable at www.youtube.com/anaheimballet or by searching "anaheimballet" on iTunes. Trade magazines Dance Spirit and Dance Studio Life have recently featured articles praising the weekly podcasts, which is quickly approaching four million global visits. "Ballet is just now starting to embrace new forms of media, just starting to give itself a chance to be embraced by a new generation", says producer Evan Rosenberg.
