Huntsville - Von Braun Center Concert Hall - 
Huntsville Ballet Company will be
presenting The Nutcracker, December 9th, 10th, and 11th, accompanied again this year by Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Joseph Lee. Performances will be at Von Braun
Center Mark C. Smith Concert Hall. In addition to the public performances, The Nutcracker will be presented free of charge to active and retired military and their families on Thursday,
December 8th, and to third graders from area schools on Friday morning.
This production of the holiday classic was introduced to Huntsville
by Loyd Tygett.in 1968. Since then thousands of families from all over North Alabama have enjoyed the beloved production. The choreography of Phillip Otto, Artistic
Director of Huntsville Ballet , was inspired by George Balanchine's Nutcracker. Mr.Otto in fact, trained with Balanchine
, and danced as the Nutcracker Prince with New York City Ballet early in his career.
Set to Peter Ilyitch Tschaikovsky's timeless score, The Nutcracker features
Huntsville's only professional ballet dancers, members of the Huntsville Ballet Company, which is gaining national recognition for the quality of training given to its
dancers. Audiences will be delighted by the spectacular costumes created by Lydia Harmon, whose costuming credits include The Magic of David Copperfield
television series, Houston Ballet and more.

Huntsville - Butler High Theatre - Alabama Youth Ballet Theatre, a non-profit
performing arts company, will open its fifth season to holiday audiences with "The Nutcracker: A Yuletide Ballet" December 3 at 7:30; Dec. 4 at 2:00 & 7:30p.m.; and
Dec. 5 at 2:00p.m. Huntsville's most experienced teachers and directors, Keren Gibb-Hilliard and David Herriott, will once again create the performance that has
